Guides
The workings, not just the answer.
Every calculator here rests on a rate card and a set of assumptions. These are those, written out, so you can check the tool rather than trust it.
SEO9 min readThe technical SEO checks you can run yourself
A handful of technical faults account for most cases of a good site not being found. All of them are checkable in an afternoon, by anyone, without buying anything.
Content8 min readWriting for the search result, not just the page
Nearly all writing effort goes into the page, and almost none into the two lines that decide whether anyone opens it. Those two lines are the whole advert.
Content8 min readDeciding what to write before you write it
Most content plans are a list of subjects somebody thought sounded relevant. The ones that work are a structure: which questions get a page, and how those pages hold each other up.
Practical7 min readTwo small jobs worth doing properly
Two unglamorous tasks with effects out of proportion to their size: compressing images properly, and converting data without opening it in a spreadsheet first.
Pricing8 min readPricing yourself when you sell more than one thing
Rate advice assumes you sell one thing. Almost nobody does. Once you have one-to-one clients, a group, and two different skills, the sums stop being about an hourly rate at all.
CRM8 min readWhat a CRM and automation build actually costs
Everyone shops CRM on the per-seat price. It is the smallest line in the project and the only one that is published, which is exactly why it gets shopped.
Hosting8 min readWhat hosting actually buys you
Hosting is the top thing clients return for in our data. It is also the line where the cheap option and the expensive option look identical right up until the day they do not.
Pricing7 min readWhy bundling work costs less than buying it piece by piece
Buying a brand, then a website, then content, as three separate projects with three separate briefings, costs more than buying them together — and the reason is not a volume discount.
SEO8 min readDoes SEO pay for itself, and when
SEO's return is real, delayed and uncertain, which is an awkward combination to budget for. The model that helps is the one that includes the case where it does not work.
Design8 min readWhat you are paying for in a design package
The same logo brief returns quotes from tens to tens of thousands. The variable is almost never drawing skill — it is exploration, rights, and how many files you walk away with.
CRM8 min readIs your business ready for a CRM?
Most abandoned CRMs were not the wrong software. They were the right software installed into a business that did not yet have a process for it to hold.
Sales7 min readHow fast you reply decides most of it
You are not competing on quality at the enquiry stage. You are competing on who replies first, because the buyer cannot assess quality yet and can assess speed instantly.
Pricing8 min readWhat your hourly rate has to cover
Most rates are copied from somebody else's website. The number that actually sustains a business comes from the other direction, and it is usually higher than people expect.
Pricing7 min readRetainer or project: which one fits
Most of the friction in an ongoing working relationship traces back to one decision made at the start: whether this was a project or a retainer, and whether both sides agreed.
Reliability7 min readWhat an hour of downtime actually costs
Every hosting and maintenance decision is really a bet on what an outage costs. Most people have never calculated it, which is why the bet is usually made badly in both directions.
Migration9 min readWhat actually breaks during a website migration
A migration rarely fails dramatically. It fails as a redirect nobody mapped, a noindex tag carried over from staging, and a form that silently stopped sending — found six weeks later.
Automation8 min readWhat automation is worth, and what it is not
Automation is the third most requested thing we see. Most of what people want automated is not worth automating — and the test that separates the two takes about a minute.
Marketing8 min readWhat social media management actually costs
Almost every social media quote is priced per post, which is the one unit that has no relationship to the work or the result. Here is what actually drives the number.
Marketing8 min readHow to set an ads budget that can actually work
There is a spend below which advertising cannot work — not works poorly, cannot work. Most failed campaigns were under it, and the arithmetic that finds your floor is straightforward.
Content8 min readWhy content costs what it costs
Content is the second most common thing missing from a brief, and the most common reason a finished build sits unlaunched. The cost is real, and it is almost never in the writing.
Pricing9 min readWhat drives the price of a website
Everyone asks how many pages. It is almost the least useful question you can ask about a website's price, and it is the first one on nearly every quote form.
Scoping8 min readWhat almost every project brief leaves out
Everyone thinks a brief is about budget and deadline. Across 6,894 clarifying questions we had to ask, those two accounted for barely a quarter. The real gaps were brand assets and content — neither of which is developer work.
Pricing8 min readWhy one quote is $200 and another is $4,000
Send one brief to five suppliers and the spread can be twenty-fold. That is not five opinions about the same job — it is five different jobs, and the cheap one is usually pricing an auction rather than the work.
E-commerce9 min readWhat an online store actually costs to run
Online stores are the most requested project type we see, and the one where the build price is least predictive of what you end up paying. Platform fees, apps and payment cuts scale with revenue in a way a build quote cannot show.
Maintenance8 min readWhat website maintenance is actually for
Hosting and maintenance are the top two things clients return for — ahead of SEO, design and ads combined. That says something about where the recurring value in a website actually sits.
Product9 min readWhat an MVP costs, and what it should not include
An MVP is not a cheap version of the product. It is the smallest thing that tests whether the product should exist — and almost every overrun comes from forgetting the difference.
SEO8 min readWhat an SEO package should actually contain
Most SEO packages are priced by deliverable count, which rewards producing many cheap things. Here is what the line items mean and which ones are doing real work.
Automation9 min readHow WhatsApp Business API integration actually works
Most WhatsApp automation writing stops at what it can do. This is the layer underneath: how the Cloud API is wired, what a client library actually sends, why buttons are a different message type, and where the CRM fits.
Pricing8 min readThe build is the smallest part of what a website costs
Nobody buys a website once. You buy a build, then hosting, then licences, then the changes nobody scoped, then a rebuild — and the build is routinely the smallest line on that list.
Operations7 min readWhat no-shows cost you, and what reminders actually recover
An empty slot generates no invoice, so it generates no record. The loss is invisible on every report you already look at, which is why it goes unaddressed for years.
Automation8 min readWhat an AI chatbot actually costs to run
The build is the part everyone quotes and nobody is surprised by. The running cost has three parts, and the biggest one is not the model.
Platforms9 min readWordPress, Shopify, Wix or Webflow: the cost nobody compares
Everyone compares the monthly plan. It is the one number that tells you almost nothing, because each platform is cheap in a different place and expensive in another.

The thinking behind the SEO audit checklist
The audit checklist runs thirty-one checks in six groups. This is why that order, not a different one, and what each group actually catches.

Meta Pixel + Conversions API: the integration guide for accurate ad spend
Meta Pixel alone underreports conversions after iOS 14.5. Here is how the Conversions API closes that gap, and the deduplication logic that decides whether the fix actually works.

Stripe Connect vs CyberSource: payment gateway integration for UAE and GCC businesses
One is a marketplace payments platform with onboarding built in. The other is an enterprise gateway that assumes you already have a merchant account. Picking the wrong one costs months, not just money.

Quick answers
Short answers to the questions that come up around these tools and do not need a full guide.
- What is SaaS (software as a service)?
- Software you rent and access over the internet rather than install and own. The vendor runs the servers, ships updates and charges a recurring fee per user or per usage tier. Nearly every tool on this site is SaaS, and so is the CRM, the accounting package and the chat tool your team already pays for.
- What is HubSpot?
- A CRM platform with marketing, sales and service modules built on one contact database. The free CRM is genuinely usable; the paid hubs add workflows, sequences and reporting. It is strongest when marketing and sales need to see the same record.
- Is HubSpot like Salesforce?
- Same job, opposite philosophy. HubSpot is opinionated and quick to deploy with marketing built in. Salesforce is a platform you configure into whatever you need, with a longer and costlier implementation. Under roughly fifty sales users, HubSpot usually wins on time to value.
- What is an inbound lead in HubSpot?
- A contact who came to you: a form fill, a chat, a content download or a meeting booking, as opposed to a name you imported or prospected. HubSpot records it as the original source on the contact, which is what makes channel reporting possible later.
- Where do I find a HubSpot quote template or marketing strategy template?
- Both ship inside the product: quote templates under Sales tooling, and strategy and campaign templates in Marketing Hub. Neither is worth paying an agency to recreate. What is worth paying for is configuring them to your pricing rules and approval chain.
- Does AI automation require coding?
- Not for most workflows. Tools like n8n, Make and Zapier cover the majority of business automation visually. Code becomes necessary when you need custom logic, an unusual API, or performance at volume. A reasonable rule: if you can describe the steps precisely, a no-code tool can usually run them.
- Can I connect Excel or Google Sheets to WhatsApp?
- Yes. Google Sheets to WhatsApp automation is one of the most common first builds: a new row triggers a templated message through the WhatsApp Business API. Excel works the same way once the file lives in OneDrive or SharePoint. Both need the official API, not a browser script.
- Is WhatsApp marketing legal?
- Yes, with consent. Marketing messages require explicit opt-in and a pre-approved template, and the UAE consumer protection rules expect a working opt-out. Sending promotional messages to a list that never opted in is both against Meta’s policy and the fastest way to get a number restricted.
- What is a WhatsApp template for marketing?
- A message structure submitted to Meta for approval before it can be sent outside a 24-hour conversation window. Variables are allowed, the wording is not editable after approval, and a chatbot template that changes its buttons has to be resubmitted.
- What are the AI automation testing tools worth knowing?
- For workflow automation, test in the tool: n8n and Make both run single executions against real payloads. For product testing, AI-assisted suites like Playwright with generated selectors, or Testim and Mabl, maintain tests that would otherwise break on every UI change.
- How do I choose a branding agency in Dubai?
- Judge the deliverable list, not the portfolio. A logo file is not a brand identity. Ask what you receive at handover: logo variants, a colour and type system, usage rules and editable templates. If the list stops at a logo and colours, the price should reflect that.
